Smiths Falls now part of Golferslinks network!
Our club is now one of 19 (& growing) area clubs that have formed “Golferslinks”.
Members of our club have the option of joining Golferslinks for a nominal fee of $24.95. This is a saving of $174 off their regular non-member cost of $199. If you choose to join, you can play any of the member clubs at 30% off normal green fee rates. Just one or two rounds at a member club will save you the cost of your fees. Club House looks great !
This past winter our club house was freshened up with a new coat of paint and new blinds among other projects. We also undertook renovations to repair areas in the kitchen. The club in great shape to open for the 2012 season - if you have not yet seen it you will be impressed! It looks great.
A big thanks must go out to all the members who volunteered their time to help in this endeavor. Al Feeley, Peter Aunger, Jim Kayser, Al Cullen, Ron Dolinki, Denis Routhier, Peter and Marie O'Neill, Anna May Kerr, Jamie Baldwin and Bill Rowland all donated some of their time to painting the complete upstairs. The colors picked out by an interior decorator were to highlight the hues of the natural stone fireplace in the dining room and to compliment the wood wainscoting in the banquet room. The colors have really brought the ambiance of the rooms up to modern times. Staff members Ken Campbell, Steve Closs and Paul Vaillancourt chipped in with some time put into trim work and much needed minor repairs.
An extra special thanks needs to be extended to Al Cullen for getting new lighting fixtures for the main hall as well as doing all the installation. Denis Routhier for feeding the volunteers that helped with the painting. And Finally the Men's Twilite Committee for paying for the paint. With the assistance of all the aforementioned the club has realized over $14,000.00 in labor savings if everything had been contracted out.
So if you happen to see any of the volunteers around the club in the spring, give them a big thanks! Look for more work parties in the near future such as a deck painting bee and join your fellow members in helping to make OUR CLUB even better.
